Feel like you’ve been here before! That’s probibally because this is one of the most photographed pubs in Ireland and even if you’ve never been here you have surely seen our picture in Books, Posters and Postcards !!
D O Sheas Bar is situated in the picturesque and colourful village of Sneem on the Ring of Kerry. This Premises has been a Public House for over half a century and for much of this time was owned by the O Shea family. It was bought in 1996 by Mary and Garbhan Kavanagh and was extensively renovated. During the time that the O Shea family owned the bar it gained much notoriety for its unusual colour, traditional frontage and its flamboyant customers.
The Pub was used in many advertisements for American Express and Visa and a Post Card was produced of its most famous patron Johnny Crowley the postman. Due to all this publicity it was decided to keep the colour and the traditional frontage of the pub and therefore it remains as it was in the time of the O Shea family. The inside is however very different and has been transformed into a comfortable and modern pub with a sun terrace that maximises the fabulous view of the Sneem estuary. A thriving food business has also been developed and the bar can cater for parties of up to 100 people.
The bar has received an award of excellence from trip adviser for several years running. You can check out our reviews on our tripadviser page
